- The land of love. Malawi captured my heart. I believe if you want to Rekindle your love with a loved one, go to Malawi or Ma-Lovi. A spot not only for a honeymoon but also a place to reflect on your current love.
This country is full of magic. The sand on the ground sparkles while the stars in the sky shine bright. Enjoying a romantic dinner under the stars at the beach of Pumalani in Lake Malawi is just spectacular While gazing at the planet Neptune or the southern cross.
The highlight of my journey was on Zomba Plateau. I believe it has a special love magic. Pretty much every one in our group had a love story to tell in the morning after chatting with their loved ones the night before. There was a love bug that struck all of us overnight. One of the members of the group mentioned that in the many years of marriage she had never received more then a sentence of email from her husband but strange enough she received a long email from him. Another mentioned that he was happy not getting married to his live in girlfriend previously but now decided that he may as well ask her to marry.
My romance was sleeping next to me, myself and I with a beautiful fire in the fireplace on top of Mount Lovi (love) called Zomba Plateau.
Not only does zomba Plateau have the love magic it also has an almost un touched Williams Waterfalls away from so many tourists. We also drove to Queens View and Emperors View where you can see the city from a top. This is where Queen Elizabeth and Emperor Haili Salasi visited.
The most adventurous part of this trip was when our car got stuck by Chagwa Natural Dam. We as a group tried to push the car out. We were unsuccessful so we started to hike up while the driver and guide tried to get the car out. As they say some things are a blessing in disguise, one was most of us got our exercise for the day . But the best part was we got to meet these amazing local ladies caring wood on their heads. And the pictures we took were amazing. They danced for us too and yes they spoke English. We gave them some money and they prayed for good wishes for us. Right then we heard our car rave out of the ditch. Yahoo! We didn’t need to hike up the mountain any more. Ten minutes later we saw our car come up to pick us.
As an Indian, we believe that prayers for well being are key and all we needed was that key to unlock the stuck car. Stories of this natural dam are that there are ancestral spirits here and someone had sunk into the grass near the dam during a full moon.
We then met a young lady at the Pumalani lodge who runs an orphanage in the village. For many of us who feel like we are super woman as mothers and parents. Well she is surely super woman. She cares for 13 orphan children plus two of her own, plus a small plot where she grows vegetables and sells them to feed and raise these kids, she also makes paper and crafts to sell to the visitors and works at the resort. Fewff, exhausted yet ? Now she IS SUPERWOMAN.
As our FAM trip was coming to an end, I was so mesmerized by the love in the air I had to write about it while driving to Lilongwe before attend the MITE or Malawi International Tourism Expo. I was sad that this trip was almost over. The bonds with friends from around the world and the love in Ma-Lovi was slowly coming to an end.
Little did I know that a sign in the form of a ring at my bedside at Latitude in Lilongwe would appear reading "love".
Well! my story to this is, we had just returned from day two at the Expo. I headed for a shower and as I was ready to lay my head on the pillow I noticed a copper ring reading "love". One of my friend was still awake and I sent her the picture of this ring. Her words to me were "it's a sign ! I told you, you are the only one in our group who is yet to find love". A sign that I will find my true love soon, but for now I will settle for Ma-Lovi a country I am so in love with.
Ma Lovi (Malawi) More love from within the community who not only support each other but ensure they love their environment by keeping it clean. The love from the locals to the magic of love from within, with bling bling in the skies to shimmer on the sand. This is a country that has to be on your bucket list.
Thank you to the Department of Tourism and the Government of Tourism Malawi for this amazing journey !
