Regional Offices have the overall responsibility for:

  • Licensing and inspection (including collection of fees) of all tourism related facilities and services in their respective regions
  • Collection of the marketing levy
  • Collection and collation of statistical information from tourism related facilities and services within the region as determined by the Planning & Development Section
  • Working with tourism representatives from each District to identify potential tourism projects
  • Assisting in the development and promotion of local cultural events
  • Working with local communities to determine how they can be involved in the tourism sector
  • Promoting development opportunities within their region
  • Evaluating proposed development projects for compatibility with national development objectives and priorities;
  • Advising local operators of tourism related facilities on operational and marketing issues – calling on assistance from Head Office where required;
  • Supervising the activities of any tourist information offices within the region
  • Keeping the Director of Tourism fully appraised of the status of the sector in their Region.
