The Reserve’s location just southwest of Nyika National Park, makes it is easy to combine a visit to the Nyika with one to Vwaza. It offers four of the five big games namely Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard and animal species large numbers of hippopotamus, and many others.
It has over 341 species of birds which includes the rare and endemic bird species i.e. White winged Babbling Starling, the Swainson’s Francolin, and Wattled Crane.
